Welcome to the club. Here is a copy of the bathroom key. 😎

Has anyone restocked the bathroom reading material?

There's a few issues of Wired and 2 very tattered Maxim mags with sticky pages :Q

I just saw my first HD channel. My dad got a 40" Samsung HD LCDTV. We hooked up an antenna and checked out the only over the air HD channel here. Unfortunately Comcast can't hook us up till Feb 5th, a day after the superbowl 🙁

dosen't DishNetwork have a much larger selection of HD channels?

who cares....the compression on DTV is supposed to be really really noticable🙁

eh? I would assume one who wants to watch HD channels would like a large selection to choose from.

I think he's saying that the crappy compression is reason enough not to use DTV, ignoring the lineup.

I'm just saying that barring the uber-detail, its still regular tv, and if I am going to be paying extra, I better be getting extra, not some over-compressed crap.

DirecTV's mega recompression FTL.

Did they ever switch to mpeg4?

Yes. All local channels are broadcast in mpeg4. All the new channels that are coming up will be in mpeg4. Existing non-local channels are in the old format.

The mpeg4 channels are supposed to be pretty close to OTA HD in terms of quality.

From everything I've read...Almost all of DTV's content is MPEG4 now..and the compression issues are not nearly like they were.

Well that's good to hear.
