Unfortunately you're at the mercy of the content developers at the moment. I have a 1080p and the only 1080p material I have so far is off of the computer or HD-DVD. Typical HD broadcast in my area is 1080i (almost all the stations are 1080i) except the occasional sports show in 720p (which looks far better for sports IMHO).

same here. my cable box being HD is still 1080i instead of 1080p. my older dvd is 480p tho, looks pretty darn good. i watch things with high action and movement all the time on 1080i and have no ghosting. even on the regular broadcast channels that dont use HD its not horrible, just waay better when i switch to the HD channels.

You guys need to read the link posted above. You don't watch anything on your 1080P at 1080i. Your TV converts it and for most 1080i sources (sports and live TV being an exception), it does a pretty good job of giving you all the resolution of a 1080P picture.

One can only hope. Interlaced video needs to GTFO my progressive-scan displays right now. 😛

720p. I don't understand how people can watch anything in 1080i. It's a comb fest at 1080i.

Everybody on this board should read this. It spells it out very clearly and with nice illustrations.

Yeah, get back to me when you can pull a 1080p signal from the wall.

Hell, pulling any video from a wall is pretty impressive.
