My TV a Samsung DLP apparently doesn't have a HDTV Tuner built-in. I thought it did but I guess not...

So is there any special receiver I should buy or what do you guys recommend? Really want to see some hdtv for once 🙂

What do you use to get your channels? Sat? Cable? OTA?

right now i just have regular cable, but I will be getting either digital cable w/ whatever hdtv broadcasts they have

or

some sat. service.

First I'm wanting to get the TV all setup and ready. Then order whatever service. Maybe I can get that voom sat service if its not too much $$. I have a mini dish already mounted but its not being used. It was put on by previous owner.

if you get sat service, you should get the HD option and a hd receiver.

With cable, your digital cable box will allow you to watch hd content.

If you want to watch ota hd content, you need an ota hd receiver and a standard antenna.

Actually, most cable companies have separate HD receivers that are different from their normal digital receivers. You'll have to ask.

If you go DirecTV, Samsung has a HD DirecTV receiver that is pretty nice and cheaper than others.

My suggestion, though, is to go with Voom. I have DirecTV and will be switching to Voom sometime this upcoming year.

OTA is easy. Buy a Zenith Silver Sensor Antenna and an OTA capable receiver (Both the DirecTV and Voom receivers double as OTA receivers) and fly. It's a great small antenna that picks up just about as much as any rooftop one will in a flat area like FL.

Call up Cox and see how much their HD service costs... It usually not much more than digital....
