Got my first HDTV yesterday (Samsung LN-S4695D ). Overall I am happy with the quality, other than SD looking worse than on my 27" Wega flatscreen, but I knew what I was getting into.
Anyway. I noticed that Time Warner Digital's HD quality is hit and miss. The first thing I did was throw on HBO HD and was about to cry because the picture was really grainy (720p & 1080i). Then I turned on NBC HD which was showing news and the picture was amazing, just what you would expect from HD.
So, it's been hit and miss and I am sure it's the cable's picture quality. It seems to be compressing the hell out of the signal and there's always grain and artifacts on the movie channels. DVDs and XMBC content looks better as far as grain goes, despite the lower resolution.
Anyone else have TMC or cable and general and notice this?
