been watching HDTV for 2.5 years now - i must say that i am willing to watch shows that i normally would not watch if they were not in hd. also, you HAVE NOT seen Band of Brothers until you have watched it in HD 🙂.

I've had HDTV since Dec. 2001, and I also find myself watching documentaries and other shows that I would not typically watch on the regular stations. Progressive scan DVD is also a big plus! IMHO if you don't have HDTV you are missing out.

Thats the truth, I have a dedicated hard drive just for the series in HD, I will cry if I ever lose that drive but there no real easy way to backup 80 gigs for data. But I dont know why but BoB is a completly different experince in HD vs even the DVD, this was shot on Hdcams so the non battle scenes (which had digital image defects to make it look old like spr) but the snow scenes you really feel like your in the next fox hole.

if 1080p becomes popular, you'll have to buy another set. but even if that does happen, it'll be many years from now.

It depends on your current financial situation, your projected future financial situation, and your viewing preferences.

HDTV is really REALLY incredible though. It's amazing how far of a step it is beyond normal NTSC and even beyond DVD.

if you're going to buy a new tv > 30" anyway... just go for the HDTV. There isn't too much programming still, but what we do get - the quality is unreal. The dolby sound that comes with our digital cable along with the 57" Sony WS HDTV... it's the theatre experience.

I would say not at this time, only because most channels out there right now are non-HD. Sort of like a mac vs. pc. However, It's a matter of your personal priorities of quantity vs. quality. I'm willing to wait for both.

Yes, I know it's a catch-22 but it's already set to switch in 2008.

It's set to switch to digital.

Digital =/ HDTV

So I guess the industry is waiting for us to buy HDTV sets for them to broadcast HDTV channels, right?

HDTV is merely a matter of money. The Gov't has been trying to drag the industry (kicking and screaming) to digital for awhile now.

Why don't you copy it over to another 80GB or larger drive if it's that important to you? I would love to see BoB in HD. :thumbsup:

NBA Finals on HD is great given ABC HD is only 720P. With that being said, I wouldn't pay extra for HD programings since there are only a handful of HD programs. Get yourself a HDTV and a good antenna and you soon will be watching PBS HD just because it's in HD 1080I.
