hdmi to usb adaptor

Yup. They make devices like that for recording video games:

Seriously though, what setup do you have where say Chromecast Netflix isn't blocked but laptop Netflix is? Why are you so desperate to plug a VERY weak computer into a powerful one that can do the same things?

Hell if the laptop is the problem (like it is locked down for work) boot into a Linux linux install.

I cant get internet sevice at my location. have unlimited on android LG, with Chromecast and screaming ASUS laptop. wanna see on the laptop what im looking at on phone

The problem is the Chromecast expects its own internet access to work. It is not mirroring the phone's Netflix on the screen, your phone tells it "hey load this Netflix video" and it does it through its own access. So your plan won't work.

What you need is something that just mirrors what the screen shows. Like Miracast.

Or just root that phone and force it to tether.

do i have to go buy a tv; cant i just use my laptop as a faux tv. didnt anyone at Chromecast think other devices might want to be used as receivers.

I second tethering app as well since it doesn't sound like rooting and ROM'ing is your thing. Try one at a time and maybe you will find one that works without root access.

HELP, new member not sure how to use this site. BUT I have an old TV 13 year old 57" Toshibia works beautifully. I got Netflix streaming and Chromecast and still couldn't use it because I didn't have an HDMI outlets..I couldn't plug it in anywhere. Question: IS ROKU the answer for me?

Roku 3 is HDMI only too.

If you want Netflix on an old TV dig up a cheap Wii.

No. All current Rokus are HDMI-only as well.

You probably want something like this:

Which *should*, if it works (many don't, but apparently this one does), both convert digital HDMI to analog component *and* strip the HDCP protection. The HDFury on which this stuff is based definitely works, but that's much more expensive.
