Hdmi shadows-outlines on Equip Hdmi 1.3b 3m. cable

Well... first of all, it is not a big problem but it is NOTICEABLE... esp on the mouse cursor / some text and the outline of windows.

I have the pc connected to the HDTV using a DVI-HDMI adaptor (from an ATI card) on my 8800gt.

The problem appears only above 1360x768... tv - pc settings are OK. ( both cards recognise the tv just fine )

I tried changing drivers - nothing.

Tried using my ATI 3650 ( where the dvi-hdmi adaptor comes from ) - same results.

I also tried different hdmi ports on the tv = same thing.

I suspect it might be the cable, even though it's supposed to be 1.3b and full hd compatible.

It's this one (the HDMI-HDMI one) :

I really can't think of anything else, and even though the problem isn't that big, it's a shame not fixing it.

Do you guys think it might the cable? Or a tv problem?

I thought of connecting the pc through VGA just to see if the problem gets fixed, but anyway I'd rather have a digital connection.

Ehm...I don't see how the adapter is at fault...wouldn't the prob exist in other resolutions too?? I could try that too though, thanks for the answer man 🙂

The model is on the topic summary 🙂

LG 47" 7000, full hd, brand new model ( oct 2008 on the market, bought it 10 days ago )

if you are seeing borders on content that is not supposed to be there make sure you dont have an overscan problem. Make sure its all 1:1

you got the same result from the adapter and the cable...

maybe try to turn off 100hz from the tv? edge enhancement from tv could cause that.

True motion = turned off

I'll try a different cable today to make sure.

Manimal - all settings are fine, it is 1:1 ^^

Things work fine until 1360x768 - It seems like the cable doesn't have what it takes to produce clear, crisp image after that...I'll find out soon...

Ivan - Cursors / text / borders on boxes suffer from ghosting, I see two white, transparent images of cursors/text next to them. I need to shoot that with a camera, can't be done with screenshots.

I didn't think Ghosting was possible with HDMI. Only dropouts/sparklies/lines. Are you sure that the contrast or sharpness isn't turned up too high?
