HDMI Input on DIRECTV Plus HD DVR/HR20 -- Can I use it for HDMI Pass through?

My HDTV only has 1 HDMI input, and I'd rather not get an expensive HDMI switch. I've heard that theres actually an HDMI Input on the HR20, can it be used as a pas through for my DVD player, and then connect the HR20 to the tv?

[Up convert DVD player]----HDMI----[HR20]----HDMI----<32" HDTV>

Dmanit. I really hope I can get my PC working through the VGA input on my TV then. Question, could I use like a three way HDMI splitter cable backwards as a switchless switch?
