HDHomerun... basic questions

I just installed my new HD Homerun. Got it recognized on the network, went to install the Windows software to my XP machine. Said could not install to XP SP3, so I installed it to one of my Win10 laptops. The tuners are seen (i.e. 2 tuners), I did a channel scan. I see the channel I want to record. I set a folder on 128GB flash drive attached to the laptop as the location for recordings. I hear the recording, but I don't see anything in that folder on the flash drive. Presumably a recording is being made, I mean, I can pause the audio (although I see no video on screen... it's in Windows Media Player), so I figure the recording is being made somewhere. But I don't know where. When I press the square Stop button will the recording magically appear in the folder? What's going on? The instructions with NextPVR (which AFAIK I didn't install, but may have been installed by the HDHomerun software), are screwy. They don't correspond to what I see in HDHomerun Setup.

So, I see nothing going to the 128GB flash drive, but the HD light is flashing on my 3TB external USB HD. I don't see any folder that would correspond to a recording there and nothing in its root directory. Don't know what's going on.

In your browser, do http://<IP>:5004/auto/vX?duration=3600 where IP is the IP of the unit, and vX is virtual channel X, or in other words, for virtual channel 3, you would enter v3 The duration is in secs, so that is a 1 hour recording. In this case, I would do something like http://192.168.1.70:5004/auto/v734?duration=300 which will make a 5 min recording wherever you decided to save it on virtual channel 734 using the IP of my unit.

Last time I installed the SD software, I had to run the setup, and once all that was done, I had to use nvpr (or...) to record stuff. Unsure if they changed things around, I know they were wanting to add a DVR themselves, so, perhaps that is what you were using? I assume it makes the recording in the windows temp file location, then, when done, it will copy that to wherever.
