Hdd size error on boot up

Nih

Senior member
With a quantum lm20,The hdd detection is seeing it as 20 gig,but when the boot up screen pops up it identifies only 528MB. Then after running data eraser it sees it as 1027. Isn't that the freakiest? lol Btw did the same thing on diff board with diff chipset.

what motherboard / chipset are you using? not those old types that cannot support up to certain sizes right?

No, initially it was on a via kt133, didn't work, moved it to a bx board, same problem. I think it's a wonky hdd controller chip on the hdd , since i debugged and ran Quantum data eraser without any success. Just wanted to know if anyone else ever encountered the same deal.
