hdd problem

i recently formated and reinstalled windows xp on my 36gig raptor and now it takes about five times as long to load as it used to.

i removed my 80 gig seagate ide and the load times went back to what i had before i formated and reinstalled xp

i ran the seagate tools and it came up with no errors

does anybody have any suggestions on what might be causeing this
