HDD just died while computer was running?

My setup is as follows
1x western digital 3200ks drive, 2x250 gig maxtor ide hdds.
My e drive which was one of the maxtors kept gettin failed to write errors or some shizz, but i always ignored them.
Now my computer only shows the one maxtor hdd + western digital drive.
All i heard was a bunch of clicks and now the hdd isnt even detected anymore.
I have a shizzload and i mean a shizzload of important data on that drive.
Any help appreciated
 
you ignored the errors?!?! why would you do that? you might try the freezer trick, its worked for me before, but its not a sure thing...and for pitys sake, the next time you get those errors DONT IGNORE THEM! its your hard drive telling you I AM ABOUT TO DIE!!!!!!!
 
i didnt know what write errors meant.
For instance i would try transferring something from e to c drive and my pc will just shut off, then windows when its goes into standby mode, upon entering back to windows thats when i would see drive e failed to some ****** with errors.
Please explain this freezer trick please

Advanced Search "freezer trick" to see whether the hardware gods take pity on your stupidity. Or pay a professional $1,000+ to get your shizz back, yo.
 
yeah. YTF did you ignore the errors? A write error is the drive telling you that it is about to die. you can try the freezer trick. If that don't work, you can try data recovery. However, data recovery servvices are really expensive. they cost per MB os data saved. did you have a backup? otherwise you are pretty much screwed. and next time, NEVER IGNORE WRITE ERRORS!

actually depending on how much you can get a pro to do it for several hundred dollars.

Usually it has been my experience that you pay them for the amount of information that they recover not a set rate. Also I had to pay them a non refunable fee I believe it was $100. Before they would even try to look for the information on my h/h!!

im gonna try tthe freezer trick in a couple seconds, damn those maxtor drives!!
never did have good luck with maxtors
 
When you take it out, look at the small logic chip near the edge of the pcb.
Does it show any signs of burning. If it does... Kaput!! Drives dead.
Google images...burnt maxtor I have two of these for storage and do know they
are very sensitive to unstable 5V feed. I'm glad I run a VG PSU.
