Hard Drive help!

Hey Guys,

I recently brought an HDD and I told my friend to partition it for me. So that it has one 27 GB partition and the other 11 GB. Its a 40 GB HDD.

Now, when I try to install it on my XP Home computer. It detects only the 27 GB partition. I went to DOS mode and formatted with partition magic and tried to delete the 10 GB partition. But nothing works. Any ideas as to

For the 10 GB you must create an extended partition and then a logical drive. If you create a second "primary" partition instead it might not work.

Also, you may need to go into XP's disk manager to get it to see / add the extra partition.

Or you could just delete everything in FDISK or partition magic or disk manager and start over.

Hi,

Well I already have some stuff stored on the 27 GB HDD. That I won't be able to burn onto CDs.

Sorry for sounding noobish, but where can I find the XP disk manager, I don't see an option in Control Panel.

Start --> Control Panel --> Perfomance and Maintenance --> Administrative Tools --> Computer Management --> Storage --> Disk Management
