After a recent freeze up and restart, my HDD LED light now constantly flickers, even during idle. [Under heavy load circumstances it will behave normally and stay on for appropriate lengths of time.] I've got GoBack installed [which I know constantly accesses the drive] but I don't remember the LED behaving anything like it is now. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Uninstall GoBack, it's crap - all that "restoration" software is crap in general. Nothing beats regular off-disk backups... Reboot the PC, press F8 right after the BIOS POST screen, and stay at that screen (it will ask you how to start the PC). See if you get any flickers then. If not, you must have some software or a driver in Windows that flickers the light.

I would uninstall GoBack, it will only slow your system down.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I'm beginning to think that installing GoBack was a mistake. In any event, I disabled it and big surprise, the flickering stopped. I wasn't aware that it churned the hard drive as much as it does. Any advice re: system back up software or technique?
