I have an old Maxtor 20 GB 7200 RPM Drive. I have been using it for over a year, I got it off a friend and it never was in that great of condititon. I suspected that it would die but did not know how long it would take. Well It eventually started clicking every now and then, I was using it as a boot drive for my software RAID0 config. Now when I boot with it in, it will just make a loud click and will say Disk Failed.

Any suggestions?

Try to find a maxtor diagnostic program and see what happens. It sounds bad though. If that drive failed then you will lose all the data on your array.

Ya I suggest not buying your friend's abused castoffs.

You could find a friend or co-worker with the same model drive and try swapping the control boards or you could try the freezer trick.
