Anyone know of any good free or trial HDD recovery apps?
I have a drive that is failing, it has 3 partitions. Partition 1 40GB is completely visible. Partition 2 and 3 are not visible (100gb each). However, when I used Zero Assumption Recovery, I was able to get it to scan and detect partition 2 and 3. However, it cannot complete data scanning on partition 3. Partition 2 it pulls up a folder list without any problems and I recovered one directory with my photos without a problem. However when it tries to completely read/load partition 3, it craps out at 99% with either rebooting, memory errors, or Stop error codes.
I already know the drive is bad, and apparently it is somewhere on the last 2-5% of the drive. I need to find a way to recover the data on that 3rd partition (or at least a few folders).
Any suggestions on software that is either free or has a reasonable trial offer? ZAR is nice because it gives 4 folder trial, but it is having problems with the 3rd partition, so I need to find something else.
