HDD activity monitor?

Hi all! I need some help in locating a software... or solution to my problem.

Recently I can feel that my computer is lagging once is a while... as in, If I move my mouse around, it will pause for around half a second every 10 seconds or so (Doesn't happen all the time, but when it does happen, it won't stop for like 10 minutes). I don't know what is causing this but I happened to look at the computer itself during these activity and i found that the HDD light flashes quickly when these pauses occur.

Thus, I believe that a certain process/program is accessing the harddrive at some short interval. I ran both AV and ASW (anti-virus and anti-spyware) softwares and found no cause.

Anyone know of a software that I can keep open which will tell me if a process/program is accessing a part of the harddrive, and perhaps what file it is accessing?

Thanks you!

P.S. Anyone else have this problem before? Was it hardware, software, virus, etc? Please let me know before I'm driven mad and formats. Thanks!

I've tried that, good suggestion. CPU is normal... its just harddrive activity without a lot of CPU cycles.. that's the weird thing.
