I've never heard of PS3 requiring HDCP for games... requiring HDCP for games would make no sense.

20WMGX2 has HDCP over DVI which I have used before with my PS3 @720P
I just want to do the same but use Component
So you are saying games won't play on non HDCP only when using HDMI and DVI?
There's no reason for them to require it, but they do anyways. This is _well-documented_. Please stop telling people HDCP isn't always required for the PS3's HDMI output, because it definitely is, and in all cases.Originally posted by: mugs

There is no reason for them to require you to use HDCP to play games. HDCP is intended to prevent you from pirating movies by recording the output from the player. There's no reason to prevent you from recording the output of video games.
