I bought an HDMI cable today thinking that I can get a better quality image on my monitor than using the old serial that I have. When I connect the two with the HDMI cable, my monitor is just black. Is there something I need to change in windows? Did I waste my $25 for this HDMI cable?

graphics card to pc monitor. My understanding is that serial cable cannot provide full HD, so I want to connect my PC to my monitor with HDMI to get full res

Well i figured it out, needed to change the input on the monitor (dont ask me how i forgot this) and then had to mess around with the screen settings in windows.

Is it me, or does VGA look better than HDMI on PCs? The colors look off, the words look blurry and nothing is as clear.. Hmm ??

If HDMI looks blurry, then perhaps you are not running at the native res of the LCD screen.

Check your overscan setting in CCC, they often default to something other than 0.

Also check your monitor settings.

VGA cables can provide full HD or higher (depending on the devices you connect from)

only problem you run into is interference (since its transferring analog signals, you can easily disrupt them if you have interference or a very long wire with poor shielding

such interference shouldn't happen with digital wires (DVI, HDMI, displayport), unless they are poor quality or really really long

Yeah this was correct, had to change resolution and now it looks much better. TY
