I'm a bit confused over what flexibility there is in terms of connectivity and HDMI-carried HD sound with the HD6870. Any advice on the following would be gratefully received.

I would like to connect my 1920x1200 24" LCD monitor to an HD6870 via DVI and simultaneously use an HDMI cable output to my AV receiver to have sound, and also video when a projecter is connected to the AVR. Is this trivially easy and just a question of connecting the cables?

Can the card output 1920x1080p over HDMI at the same time as outputting 1920x1200 over DVI? Would it treat this as two screens?

Would all sound be carried over HDMI even if the video feed is not being used by the projector?

Well the card can output from DVI and HDMI at the same time. It should be just like having dual monitors.

Sound should definitely be carried through to your receiver if you have the projector hooked up too. I imagine it can possibly work without it, but I can't say for certain.
