Right, looks like I'm changing the motherboard as well. Got an MSI 5850 twin frozr II and tried to run it - it posted 2 times - "not recognised as an ATI device", otherwise no-go. Posted on another computer just fine. In the service they told me it's something related to asrock's pci-e ports, dunno honestly... Tomorrow I'll be bringing the whole PC to the shop to see what's up.

you need to isolate the problem. honestly, this sounds like a psu issue. I have several hx series corsairs, they are all very good. however, there are many others that are just as good or better. check out the reviews on johnnyguru's website, he is probably the best out there on psu's.

OP, i've had two fsp (600w and 700w) and both needed rma. imo, that's it for them. switched to ppcc and corsair and both are quite good. i've had the ppcc 750w quad silencer for much longer and it can take a beating (rock solid at room ambient 80F powering a slightly oc'ed 4870x2) in a moderately ventilated case. i'm now using a corsair tx to power 5850CF+GTX260OC (both 5850s are reference) and it seems to handle everything just as well in the same lousy environment. if indeed you need a card, i would hunt for a reference, maybe pay more, but you won't need to worry about the card being adequately cooled nor if the VRMs can handle the loads. as for your mobo, gl.

That ppcc silencer 750w quad is EXACTLY what I was thinking about :)
Otherwise will update tomorrow night if there's anything to update... been a bit busy lately.

For Europe Corsair is always your easy safe bet.

You also might want to check your BIOS settings on that mobo. There might be a conflict in the settings, I've seen it happen to others.

Looks like it was the PCI-E slot - needed to be "fastened", which means changing MB soon (the card was fastened with screws pretty well otherwise, now it's on screwless (didn't trust it before)). Guess that's why the old card began malfunctioning. The PSU checks out just fine (guess I just got a good unit). I'll be changing the motherboard in the future, probably adding a good CPU cooler and maybe going ddr-3 (atm it's q9400 w/ scythe ninja). At the very least I'll be able to run my ram at 1066 w/o BSODs ^_^

All right, my previous post is total rubbish - guess the service didn't do its job quite well ^_^
The PC is running with a 420W PSU atm (SIRTEC, for ~3 days, most likely less), both cards boot/run just fine. Also I couldn't get the old card to malfunction at my friend's house with the FSP - I guess it was just the power outlet or smt but GPU-Z recorded 55A+ currents regularly. No coil whine either - guess it's time to change that power outlet splitter (if the outlet is stable w/o it ofc - otherwise, well... ).
