Look what happens when you increase AA. the 460 beats the 5850. ^_^

As for Metro 2033 look what happens when you enable AA.

Yet another victory for the 460.

"The Fermi-based GPUs have the advantage here, so much so that the GTX 460 1GB essentially matches the Radeon HD 5870"

Nice try.

Its faster when you turn things down to normal and lower the resolution.

Look what happens when you turn everything up.

Nice try.

The GTX 460 does tessellation much better than the 5830. I don't see a reason to choose the 5830 over the GTX 460 when they're both the same price.

The 5830 also uses too much power and generates too much heat. It's definitely second-rate compared to the 460.

However, Wreckage has been trying to argue that the 460 is better than the 5850 so the 5850 should be priced at $199. He's "shocked" that no one agrees with him.

The 460 1GB "seems" to be a great card (The 470/480 are pigs). I say "seems" to be because we need to see the retail cards reviewed. Seems that some review samples differ from what can be purchased. Might not really matter, but we need to see to be certain. I'm not happy though about seeing different review/retail cards. Too lacking in the integrity department.

Snip:So apparantly it is common for Palit to submit better samples to the press opposed to what they sell in the stores: Here's an answer from Palit which makes clear as to this apparantly was done on purpose:

Saying that the 5850 should cost less than the 460 is ridiculous.

how many games actually are taking advantage of that though?

that said - i really do like the 460 simply for the minimum framerates it puts out. iirc the AT review showed a very consistent showing

In the UK the pricing is also beginning to move a lot on both sides.

HD5750 = £98/99 (512MB/1GB - yes, only £1 difference)
HD5770 = £118
GTX460 768MB = £151
HD5830 = £159
GTX465 = £177
GTX460 1GB = £180
HD5850 = £200
GTX470 = £235
HD5870 = £288
GTX480 = £388 (no joke).

The HD5850 has been around £230 for ages, and the GTX470 started at £300 then dropped to £270 and now it's down further.
The significant drops for the HD5850 and GTX470 have happened very recently AFAIK.
