The prices of two cards are about the same.
Hard to make a decision.
Which one you want to pick?
CPU is x4 BE55, and would like to play games (Cod4, BFBC2)
and play blue @1080.

I'm sure people can help you better if you detail...

- What resolutions will you be using?
- What do you plan to do with the card (Gaming? Blu-ray movies?)

4890 is faster, but 5770 has DX11 support. I'd go with 5770 just because it's newer. slightly cheaper, and can do most 1920x1200 decently. Otherwise, save and shell for 5850 <-- beast. If you'd like for the card to double as a grill, the GTX480 George Foreman Edition would be your top choice here. What better than to play BFBC2 while cooking a nice, juicy steak?

Prices about the same? Where? The 4890 are rare now, and the ones available are not exactly 5770 price.

The 4890 is faster, but in the majority of games the 5770 will handle 1080p with most settings at highest. In addition, the 5770 is much shorter, takes less power, generates less heat and is much quieter. Furthermore, you don't need as big of PSU to drive the 5770.

I have 4 HD5770 running in the machines at home, I am extremely pleased with them.
