I just got a HD4870X2 .. and I wanna get the Accelero XTREME 4870X2 . I have been searching the few review pages online .. but I cant find any that gives a detailed review of how well it works and performs .. what the temperatures are or how much noise it makes .... Has Anandtech done a review on this product ? .. I've been looking all over the place in the site and forums .. but I cant find any . The card I have now is running at 60% fan speed and .. at idling at 65c .. I'm in Malaysia .. tropical country .. it gets pretty hot here ... ambient temp around 30c .. and the card gets to 80c plus at load .. so i'm scared to push it or leave my pc on for too long .... it works great though ... playing DOW2 on Ultra high .. and its great .. but the damn noise is annoying ... I'm not gonna go into water colling anytime soon ... maybe later when I can get more money ... I'm fine having a Thermalright 120 Extreme ..
Does anyone have any ideaa about the Accelero XTREME 4870X2 ? .. is it worth getting it ?
tq.. appreciate any help I can get .. 🙂

It's pretty clear that this Accelero Xtreme will give your card much lower temperatures being silent in the same time. But it's price tag is a bit high and all that heat dumped inside your case will prove to be stressful for your cpu and probably other components as well, at such a high ambient.

Your X2 is still very hot at 65C in idle with the fan at such a high rpm, even if the room temp is 30 C. I really think there is probably something you can do to reduce those temps, like cleaning the heatsink, since it might have a lot of dust inside it and improving your case airflow. Try these first and see where it gets you, before paying the premium for that cooler.

Make sure your case has proper air flow inside before blowing benjamins on a new card.

If possible, replace all 80/92 mm. fans your case might have and add 120 mm. fans instead.

Proper cooling by air could drop massively your temps at idle and load, and give you the possibility to drop the revs on that fan, making it quieter.

I replaced all the fans in my Centurion 5 case and temps inside dropped by almost 8ºC. And with a 12v/5v switch, it's very quiet when I want it to be.
