first, my CCC settings

http://img399.imageshack.us/img399/856/vid1xs4.jpg

http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/1796/vid2ml8.jpg

From what I understand, that's how it should be, but I'm not 100%

Next, gpu-z with atitool's fur cube torture

http://img377.imageshack.us/img377/484/vid3es8.jpg

For reference, the left GPU-Z is the first card, the right GPU-Z is the second.

Regardless of what I do or what game I load (I've tried Crysis, World in Conflict, Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2, and CoD 4) the second GPU will never budge and sits at 0%.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had 3870 crossfire before and this is exactly how it should look.

Edit: "Regardless of what I do or what game I load (I've tried Crysis, World in Conflict, Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2, and CoD 4) the second GPU will never budge and sits at 0%."

Ops! I missed this part.

Ok remove the ATI catalyst drivers then restart the system, using Driver Sweeper in safe mode and reinstall the ATI catalyst drivers in normal mode. Hope that will fix your problem!

So the second GPU should just sit at 0% the whole time? Sorry for my apparent lack of knowledge on the matter, but what's the use in linking 2 cards together if the second one just sits there doing nothing?

Thanks for the help mate. On a side note, should I be using the most recent catalyst drivers or some back version? I've been reading around and some people claim that 8.6 or 8.7 are better for the 4850, but I've not found any definitive answer on the subject.

Thanks again for the help.

Use the most recent drivers, because it has the latest game profiles to scale properly.

Unfortunately, I'm encountering the same problem. 0% load on the second GPU in the few tests I ran (Fur cube bench, World of Warcraft, and TF2).

I performed the operations in this order: Downloaded the most recent drivers from ATI.
Used the download to remove all ATI related things.
re-booted into safemode and ran the linked program to completely remove all ATI graphics related things.
booted into normal and installed the entire 8.8 catalyst package.

re-ran benches. Still no dice. =(

Are you running in windowed mode perhaps? Crossfire doesn't work in windowed mode.

While I run a few things in windowed mode, I just ran Furmark in fullscreen and yielded the same results, 0% gpu load throughout the bench.

Just re-started my machine and crossfire's not working in all fullscreen 3d renders, but it's working for a few games. Unsure as to what changed but it's working for the most part now.

Thanks for the help guys.

I would reccomend trying ATT for crossfire, it was working fine for me when I was having CCC issues. However it has no support for fan fixing the 2nd card, so you are going to want to have the .xml fix around.

Best of luck to you.

Furmark test OpenGL which does not function in crossfire.

If the pair of cards is working in some of your games then it's probably OK. That's about all you can really expect.

Do you have the crossfire bridge on the cards?(Physically) Is crossfired enabled in the CCC?

Considering you went through all the steps I went through, the only thing left is 3D settings and set Catalyst AI "enabled" and set to "standard"

EDIT: Also, your first SS is always like that. The only one that shows 2 cards (for me at least) is the ATI Overdrive tab.

Stupid question - but I assume the bridge is installed?

What brand of card do you have? Consider contacting the manufacture if they offer support.

That's false; Crossfire most certainly works in OpenGL.

My secondary adapter also is disabled when I check the hardware information section in the CCC with the Catalyst 8.8 drivers.

I went back to version 8.6 the CrossfireX tab came back, I don't know what the hell is going on to be honest.

I seriously think that ATI/AMD broke CrossfireX in 8.8
