I think I might have messed up with the bios not setting it higher than 256/256 but according to GPUz it was using far more ram than that anyways.

I did get some slow downs momentarily which I attributed to memory/bandwidth.

I didn't realize fraps was covering the resolution until I had closed out, my apologies on that it was 1366 by 768.

Personal comments: I was rather suprised by how high I could go on the settings and still get around 30 fps, which because of the engine still felt rather smooth. However no matter how high I went on the settings the IQ was nothing compared to what I was used to with my 7950 CF setup. In fact I didn't play more because it was a painful eye sore experience. This probably had more to do with the fact that I've been spoiled, and 768 isn't the native res.

Otherwise I found the game totally playable, certainly a capable iGPU solution at those speeds.

Edit: Couple of screens

On a serious note thanks for posting this, it seems we have come a long way regarding igpu performance.

You do realize that the beta is so borked that half of the settings actually dont do squat to the performance in the game, right?

There is people that actually GAIN fps from going AO off to HBAO (probably the most taxing setting back on BF3).

No I didn't, but I did note this was for BF4 beta, not BF4 retail in my title.

Edit: I should also note this was after the recent update.

Crazy to see how far IGPs have reached. Not as crazy as Bella tho :D

I wonder if the memory is simply system memory added on top. Tho without the same performance penalty as if going over PCIe for dGPUs.

That's honestly really impressive for an iGPU.

I guess so, but I dont know how many chips will be able to overclock to that graphics speed.

Balla seems to have a golden chip as well as considerable expertise in overclocking, plus a very well set up system.

It's all thanks to his case, I tell ya.

Wonder how a card like a 8800gt stands up compared to oced hd4600?If i recall 8800gt is the minimal requirement card for BF4.

Got a 9500 gt ddr3 1gb sitting in a box, might see what it can do just for the hell of it compared to Ballas hd4600.

Awesome post! Good job by DICE in scaling their games. As iGPUs come up, I think it's important for PC gaming that the new games are playable on iGPUs. Hopefully gamers get their feet wet with iGPUs, then step up to something bigger.

Yeah, this is a top 1% chip lol.

Slightly off-topic question: is using the HD 4600 in a system with a dGPU as simple as installing the driver and connecting the monitor to an on board port?

Damn, if i decide to buy a haswell i7 and overclock it i am tossing my 9500gt 1gb ddr3 away lol and use hd4600 as backup.Specs wise they look almost the same but hd4600 destroys it which doesn't surprise me.

1024x768 all low everything disabled and the only way i could hit anything above 25 fps is to stand up again a wall and stare at it then i get a max of 32fps, running around i sit about 21-25 at most while 1366x768 same settings i am lucky to see 25fps ha.

impressive result, have you tested with all on medium or something?

GT3 at 1.7GHz would be nice!

stock HD 4600 seems to get almost 3x the GPU score from the 9500GT on 3dmark vantage (newest DX10 3dm), it should be an indication, both are not almost the same.

Sorry guys, tried to use my 9800 GT and got a DX error.

Looks like it is trying to run DX11 on a DX10 card :|

MY GOD! That i5 of yours is a beast! One question: How did you OC that iGPU? I don't think my i5 3210m can do such a thing, but it'll nice to know when I get my own 4670k.

You can use your bios assuming it's not OEM.

But in this case I didn't want to remove my 7950, so I just used Intel Extreme Tuning and Lucid Virtu (was already running in iMode, which is why I had it set to 256/256 in bios). Virtu is kind of like Optimus when used like this, I can either let it switch to the dGPU or force it to use the iGPU which is what I did in this case.

Would be amazing if ULPS kicked in for this so my 7950 would simply shut off, and of course I could overclock it :\

They're going to be very close, since HD4600 is very close to A10-5800K. But I think the 8800GT would run slightly faster. Certainly not worth the extra 100+ watts though.
