I just installed an EPoX 8K3A+ with an AMD 2100+ XP, but now my ATA 100 Maxtor 45GB HD is performing SLIGHTLY better than a ATA 66 HD!!! Any things I should check for? I went from an Intel BIOS with no options to a new one with all kinds, so are there any options I should look for? I do have it on ATA 100 in the BIOS, as well as a 100 compatible cable. Please help guys, I know I am missing a lot of performance. And I also have the newest VIA Drivers. Thanks I am geting like 17000 in Sandra whereas I should be getting 24000. Check out my cache reading in my PCMark2002 score. It's pathetic. Thansk for any help.

I dont think its anything to worry about. when i had my HD's set up as a Raid (Dual 75gxp 45 giggers) it showed them as going slower then an ATA66 Raid Array (Sisoft)

The thing is, my intel setup gave me 24MB/sec for Cache wheras I get 7 now with my setup now. 🙁

What's the actual phsyical set up?

IE, which drive is master, which channels are you using, which is one the end of the cable and so on.

Also, have you installed 3rd party BUS master drivers, or are you relying on the XP Publisher ones?

I have it setup this way:

IDE 0 is th 45GB as Master and my ZIP 100 as the Slave
IDE 1 is my CD as Master CD-R/RW as Slave

I am also using the via 4-in-1s

Welll I was under the impression that it was a free program up to a point where you cant do certain tests. It wont even let me do those.

it is only free for use under win9x, they charge you to use it under nt/2k/xp. $60 for a simple hdd benchmark?

go to device manager and view the properties of either your primary or secondary ide channel (depending on where the drive in question is located) then go to the advanced settings tab and verify that it is running in dma mode 5

<< verify that it is running in dma mode 5 >>

now that the pcmark results page has finished loading, i dont think that this is your problem. have you tried the drive in another system?
