HD question

my old micropolis scsi HD make a humming sound when I shut down my HD.
I can't say it was okay or not though. It's dead 1 year after the company goes bankrupt.

I use them for 3 year b4 it went out on me.

I think my Atlas 10K also make that sound. Probably it's the sound of HD spinning down.
 
Depends upon the model off the HDD, some models make different noises when first powering... some are quiet. What HDD are you using and perhaps someonw will know how it sounds when first recieving power?
