I know wrong forum so :p bu I need a quick reply

Hey I have a WD 160Gb SE. I also have an RMA one from WD. The same drive.

My defective drive shows Capacity of 149Gb. The RMA one shows 127Gb.

I KNOW the 1024 used by programmers etc and the manufactures using 1000mb issue.

But why am I losing so much?

Thanks.

Could it be that I have 3 HD's in my computer?

I know my Mobo the Asus granite bay does support more then 127Gb as my other WD 160GB shows up as 149Gb.

No my 160gig HD also shows up as 149gig. How did you format the drive? Did you format inside windows or with the wd floppy disk? The only reason it shows 127gig is because thats the max. size older bios can read without the extra bit extension or if you have xp before sp1. Just plug it and reformat the drive inside windows xp via admin tools, computer management, disk management. Just make sure you format the RIGHT DRIVE and DON'T make it a dynamic disk. Thats it. Your 127gig is now a 149gig.
