hello all,

My friend is trying to fool around w/ partition magic and LInux on a 2nd brand new hard drive. He has his primary 80GB set as Primary Master and the 2nd hd as Secondary master. The HD shows up in Bios but not in WinXP nor LInux, he cannot install either OS on the 2nd HD NOR does it show up in WINXp as another drive...any help guys?

thanks!

Try this.Open controll panel, then performance and maintinance, then administrative tools, then computer managment and on the list on the left ,press disc managment.from there you should be able to access inactive harddrives...The people that make windows think its clever to hide stuff there like a new hardrive.

It doesn't show up because there is likely no partition table, let alone a filesystem or filesystems. If he wants to fool around with linux on it, then I assume he's installing fresh? The installer should have no problems seeing it and it should let him partition and stick some filesystems on it. If not, it's probably a hardware issue.
