HD problem

My sister is having trouble with my nephews computer. It would not boot at all. Then finally it would get to the windows screen then give a "cold boot failure". It won't boot into windows at all. Any ideas. Probably the hard drive? Thanks in advance for any help.

doesn't sound HD related. if it were you wouldn't be able to boot up at all and see the windows logo. i think its an OS problem. may need to reinstall or do some restoring if you can. try getting into safe mode.
