HD problem in 98..Help

Hopefully someone can help me out. I built my 1st system for my kid and everything shows up in the post test. Now I have to install os and thats my problem. I have a win 98 1st editon CD and a 98 se update CD. The HD is a 40gig Maxtor. If I install 1st edition 98 Im afraid only 30 gigs of hd will show up. If I then use update to SE will that let the other 10g show up? I know I could partition it to 2 (30+10) drives but Im really looking for 1 40g drive. Is there any freeware software that would allow 40 gig to show up after loading 1st editon followed by SE update?
Help.....THX

The maximum size for a single FAT32 partition is 128GB. You won't run into problems with Win98FE, as the FDISK in that allows drives up to 64GB in size before it runs into problems.

You should be able to create a single 40GB partition without any problems.

You may want to reconsider the single partition idea. We always put 2 on our commercial systems, one for the O/S and the other for the apps & data. If you need to upgrade (or re-install) the O/S, it makes life a lot easier. Also makes HD de-fragging faster - you only need to process the apps/data partition.
