HD Partition - need help

I have a non-partitioned 40GB HD with win98SE installed. I am going to upgrade to XP tonight and was wondering if partitioning my drive makes sense. Should I / Can I create a 2.5GB partition for the OS and not screw anything up?

Depends on if you do a clean install or an upgrade. If you do an upgrade then the only way you will be able to setup a 2.5 GB partition is to use partition magic before hand. Also windows XP isa fairly large install, I think it uses close to 1gb. Has for partioning. I usely leave a smaller partition for data I do not want to accidently loose if I happen to format C again.
