HD Media Player -decision.

What file format is it in? MKV, Blu-Ray ISO, m2ts...? There are very few media players out there that supports Blu-Ray ISO playback and even fewer play with BLu-Ray Menus or Branching...D:

I know my WD HD Live does BD ISO. Or at least one of them

tsmuxer can do it if you have the copy protection removed or you can just use anydvdHD

M2ts really is a better format than MKV if you want to maintain the same quality, but the size of the m2ts files can be huge, upwards of 20GB.

so i finally got truehd to work in m2ts. currently ripping BRD to m2ts, using handbrake to compress video stream down to 13MB/s and create a compressed mkv since HB will only create mkv or mp4. Then using tsmuxer to mux compressed video from mkv and truehd soundtrack from original uncompressed m2ts into a new m2ts.

Then I find out that m2ts doesn't support chapters

I think i'll have to end up getting another box. The egreat sa1 looks impressive. There's just too much jumping thru hoops to get the movies to play the way I want on the WD TV Live.

Btw, should the WD TV Live have any problems playing an umcompressed BRD rip at around 30MB/s? I have no problems playing the compressed vids at 13MB/s, but whenever I try to play the uncompressed vids, it stutters every now and then. This is while being streamed over a wired gigabit network.

the nic on the WD is 100mbps... not gigabit.

Most likely Blu-Ray ISO or you have to drill down the subfolders to the mt2s file with no chapters and no menus support - for chapters and menus for Blu-Ray ISO requires a license.

I think the only Media Players that support Blu-Ray ISO playback with Menus and Chapters is the Popcorn Hour C-200 and the Dune Base and Dune Prime. Both are $300+

You are correct. No media players currently support true gigabit - even the New WDTV Live Hub that may have gigabit hardware but the Sigma Designs 8654 is not able to help the hardware to get gigabit speeds. A reviewer on AnandTech could not even get it to throughput gigabit speeds:
