Just started happening, I keep loosing my partition on my drive at random times. Havn't lost any data from it crashing but I can only assume it will soon.

It's a Seagate drive but their software is being upgraded and can't do anything with the dos version since my USB keyboard doesn't power up during post.

Any ideas on if it is dying or not?

You are saying that your keyboard won't work in DOS because it's a USB keyboard? You should get a keyboard you can use at a DOS prompt, then. Old keyboards are a dime a dozen. A thrift store, used computer store, recycling outfit, I see stuff like that on the curb.

So, until you get such a keyboard you can't run Seatools on the drive? That's probably what they want you to run. How old is your drive? Is it in warranty? Have you called Seagate support? It's 1.800.732.4283

what software is being upgrade?

I think you should probably go back and describe the problem with more detail.

just saying i'm losing my partition is very vague.

I can't really tell what the true problem is but i would get a new hard drive if that's the case.

Also 4 ur keyboard make sure u turn on legacy.

It's got a warranty until 2010.

I don't know windows kept coming up with the checkdisk everytime I turned on my PC.

Yes the keyboard get's NO power during post, I don't know what it is.
