HD DVD Blu Ray playback and H.264 decoding

OK, I'm a bit hazy on some of the tech stuff related to HD content. Got a XFX 8600GT that has full H.264 decoding, and is HDCP ready. My monitor is also HDCP compliant. I'm getting one of those cheap Toshiba HD DVD roms from Geeks this week, I'll get a Blu-Ray probably later on. I read that I have to have a software player to play HD DVD content, and I have Nero Ultra 7, that says it can play HD DVD and Blu Ray.

Just wanted to confirm that I have the flow chart right:

The Nero player is licensed to decode the HD encryption, the output from the Nero software player is H.264, it then goes to the video card and since the video card can handle full decoding of H.264, my CPU can take a coffee break. Not that my Q6600 would have a problem anyway.
Oh, almost forgot the HDCP part, the video card sends the digital video signal out with HDCP instructions to verify that the monitor is also HDCP compliant to prevent anyone from copying the content digitally.

Thanks

You may need the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD playback plug-in from Nero.

I think you are covered with the HDCP but you will probably want to double check if nero will offload the decoding to the GPU or not. I know powerdvd is supposed to do that, but don't know about nero.

I'm no expert but it looks like you have everything set. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can chime in.

BTW, what is your motherboard? You may want to check the compatibility list with your HD-DVD/Blu-Ray ROM and the chipset.

It sounds like you'll still need a software DVD player. I'm not sure about Nero. PowerDVD is still the player of choice.

Since it sounds like you're on a budget, you can pick up a copy of PowerDVD Ultra from ebay for **very** cheap. I doubt that they are legit copies, but they claim to be legit so I dont feel bad for posting it here. Just search ebay for "powerdvd ultra."

Edit: I recall that version 8.0 might not play HD DVD. Be sure to check this if you go for that version. You should be ok with 7.3.

I posted a question in the Toshiba SD-H802A thread here since I'm having problems now using PowerDVD Ultra 7.3.
If the player is at a half or less window size, no problem. Expand the window, and the lower half of the picture is all distorted.
According to a web post, it's a DRM issue when using DVI instead of HDMI
Any ideas would be appreciated. Maybe best not to post here, since I posted over in the Toshiba link.
Thanks
