OK, I'm a bit hazy on some of the tech stuff related to HD content. Got a XFX 8600GT that has full H.264 decoding, and is HDCP ready. My monitor is also HDCP compliant. I'm getting one of those cheap Toshiba HD DVD roms from Geeks this week, I'll get a Blu-Ray probably later on. I read that I have to have a software player to play HD DVD content, and I have Nero Ultra 7, that says it can play HD DVD and Blu Ray.
Just wanted to confirm that I have the flow chart right:
The Nero player is licensed to decode the HD encryption, the output from the Nero software player is H.264, it then goes to the video card and since the video card can handle full decoding of H.264, my CPU can take a coffee break. Not that my Q6600 would have a problem anyway.
Oh, almost forgot the HDCP part, the video card sends the digital video signal out with HDCP instructions to verify that the monitor is also HDCP compliant to prevent anyone from copying the content digitally.
Thanks
