HD Clicks (Wakes up?) after short AFK

any idea why it's doing this or how to turn this short "sleep" feature off?

*EDIT* I just checked my advanced power settings and the hard drive isn't supposed to sleep until after 20 minutes, but it seems if I go afk for a few minutes n come back - it clicks.

*EDIT2* Doesnt' seem to be happening a lot, but it will click while I'm using the PC also... like when I go to browse for something.

I have 3 hd's. Maybe the other 2 that aren't the OS are falling asleep? is this something to be worried about?

If you have one of the newer "green" drives they will "sleep" more often. It's not an OS issue as it's built into the firmware of the drive.

ty for the reply.

It doesn't sound like a healthy wakeup... maybe it's just the sound that I'm not used to.

Any way to disable this or is this something i can ignore?

If they are doing it because of a setting in windows you can change it, if they are "green" HDDs then i doubt it as it will be built to operate that way.
