HD Capable cards? Is there such a thing?

I am wondering if there are cards yet that can display in HD format? I have an HD TV and it would be awesome if I could hook my computer up to it and display at 1080i! Anyone know of such a thing? Am I just dreaming? Any help would be appreciated.

There are a few cards that can display HD when used with a DTV tuner and software, ATI is producing a DVI> component video adapter that will connect to your HDTV through YPbPr and will support HDTV 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i. It was supposed to be available Q1 2002, I notice their site now says "available 2002" so who knows.

There are also VGA>component adapters available now priced at around $300.

Shal,

Sounds like you are interested in a Home Theater PC (HTPC). Check out the info over at AVS Forums HTPC forum: AVS HTPC forum

I am just starting to consider this myself since I have an HDTV and would like to hook up a progressive scan DVD player. I can either buy one or build an HTPC.
