Wow even at over 1300+core your 7950 is still behind lower clocked 7970s. Guess i made a good choice then :D

He probably saved a few bucks though for 2% less performance. Not a bad trade off. :sneaky:

If I hadn't been mining I probably would have bought a pair of 7950's rather than 7970's just because the performance difference is pretty small.

Still nice results from both of you.

It's a fun fact that 7970's are 5-8% faster clock per clock ;) I can't game with these clocks though, I would need some water to do that... Don't worry my second "cherry" picked 7950 is about to be in the mail. I will have you milk soon enough ():)

I'm just talking smack  I have zero idea on how well the incoming 7950 will overclock. I was very picky on my selection though. I found one with the same ASIC and it was purchased late 2012 so I have high hopes :\ I am very eager to try out crossfire though. I finally ordered a Killawatt, I am interested to see how much wattage my current rig pulls at high clocks on the 7950. My 600watt PSU sounds like it's going to take off when benching or playing Crysis 3.

Congrats. The extra performance is awesome.

You'll be surprised how much power you can use at full tilt. Mine hit over 1250W from the wall with Trifire.

Thanks! I know, I saw you post that in another thread  . I have a Thermaltake Smart 750w I am going to use for the time being as a filler PSU until I can get a higher quality unit. Should be ok.....:\

I don't think there is a single 7970 on this forum that can top this score, well done

Well...

The overall score is a lot better than mine though probably due to the 6-core. Not sure how my GPU score is higher since our core clocks are the same but his memory goes a lot higher. Throttling maybe?

By the way the above was run with 4670k@4.6Ghz and 7970@1360/1690.

These are my everyday, 100% stable clocks. I can get my 8230 to 4.7 GHz, but compared to 4.3 it uses so much more power and heat it's not worth it. I might do a run at the maximums tonight though.

FX-8320 @ 4.3 GHz
WF3 7950 @ 1225/1550
8GB DDR3-1866 Ram
Win 8 Pro

I'd also like to note I built my desktop used. $120 for the CPU, $180 for the video card.
