1.21v should be enough for 1200 core. Hmm... Thats a lot more voltage then mine does at stock.
That should be my stock voltage.

I'm wondering wether my driver clean up routine failed miserably.

or..got a dud.

Having trouble running 3dmark as well....should redo directx probably.

7850 is just a failed 7870 so you might have had a dud. Up the voltage

like i mentioned in the other thread, my sapphire 7850 non-oc ed. would only do 1125 stable up to 1.225 volts

stock voltage was 1.210

sending it back and will probably pick up a 670 for a nice price premium, but hey, i'm worth it 🙂

I want to go Xfire but the drivers are just plain garbage

Well i have a dud.

Following deejayes example most likely.

Having trouble with 3dmark and unigine tho.
And DX11... could this be it?

PS:

Early v ersions of asus gpu tweak or?
using latest .83 one.

Mine is a bit of a dud as well. All I can do is 1180mhz at 1.225v.

What are your guys's ASIC quality as measured by GPU-Z? I only briefly tested mine for undervolting but I know it struggled to be stable beyond ~1080MHz or so, at 1.075 volts. ASIC quality was given by GPU-Z as 85.6%. I hear that the lower your quality, the better it responds to more voltage. The higher the quality, the better it undervolts.

How do you test ASIC quality?

76.4% here. Thanks Blasting

No problem. If GPU-z is accurate you have a decent chip so I wouldn't call it a dud. It's actually better to have a lower % if you're cranking up voltage under water, from what I understand, so I think you're just at the physics limit of the chip. I mean, you don't expect a 2500k to clock to 6GHz no matter the voltage, right? Same thing here. Just because a few people can hit 1300 doesn't mean everyone can. 🙂

So it's bad that my 7970 shows a 65.5% in GPU-Z?

If I'm interpreting it right, it means that it's a high leakage part that requires more voltage to hit stock clocks and does worse with air cooling. However it should also clock up well with additional voltage, which you will want to cool down with water cooling. (The reverse, a high ASIC %, means it won't take as much voltage to hit stock clocks and is better for undervolting, too. But it also doesn't benefit as much from overvolting.)

1300 core BABY!!!!!

You guys were right. It was the VRM's overheating. I have two CM 60cfm fans an inch away from the pcb blowing air across it and that seemed to do the trick.

I'll upload the screenshot as soon as photobucket stops being a douche
