Your numbers sound reasonable. I suspect you have 1 GTX590 or they are not in slots next to each other?

Only 1 of my GPUs is reporting 110C, the rest vary from 83C to 100C.

Yes, I have 1 590. The fan shroud is recessed a bit to allow better airflow when two cards are right next to each other in SLI. I don't believe your 6990's have that recess, but I could be mistaken. That could be why one card is at a reasonable temp while the other cooks. Water is the only way for you to go. Let us know what kind of improvements you see. Should be mammoth.

Saphire 6990s have rubber feet on reverse side which spreads them apart.
