HD 6850 Alpha to Coverage problems

Hey all, I can't really recall since when it started but I first saw this problem with Two Worlds 2. At first I thought it was the game's fault but it's not since it's doing it in Drakensang, Rift and other games...

The problem is with Alpha to Coverage. when I have "obstacles" oberlaying my character or something, instead of going transparent, it's like "pixelized"...in other words, the textures are all there and instead of applying some transparency it just doesn't display 1 pixel out of 2 damn it's hard to describe so here's a screenshot:

Look in the upper right section of the screenshot...

What's that? Not only in this game but in many others...
Thanks for your help?

I'd try to reset everything to stock and see if it still does it. I know its a PITA, but whenever you're having weird issues, if everything isn't at stock it's not (imho) worth troubleshooting...

Ok here's what I did:

- First when I install drivers I always do a clean install, ie, uninstall, reboot in safe mode, driver sweeper, reboot, install new drivers (exactly what I did with 11.2)
- I put everything back to stock, rebooted and tested games. Nothing changed.

It did not do that before (when I had my HD 5770 and with other games) and to take Two Worlds 2 as an example, it's only doing it in DX10 and not in DX9 which it's perfectly fine.
In the Rift open beta I had this trouble too, mostly with grass and trees.
In Drakensang...I just can't tell whats causing this.
Just check with Risen and looks like it's partially having this problem.

So, I dunno...maybe it's something with my card, or the games, or a mix of everything...

I'll investigate further and see what I can find.

Thanks for the additionnal help!

I play Rift Beta too and as far as I can tell I haven't seen anything like that yet. 11.2s on 6950 OC'ed. I am going to fire it up right now to see if I can reproduce that effect.

Any other games thats having that problem? I have a HIS 6850 too and I'll check on mine. It seems to run bfbc2 without that error though (which is all i play...) 😀

Try setting all the 3d settings in CCC to Quality instead of Performance?

It's already that way and I tried every options available.

And in BFBC2 it's not doing it, everything's running fine...

It's only happening when transparency is applied in games and mostly on vegetation like grass and trees...

Have you tried throwing everything on to high quality?
I am getting this in Fallout 3 on grass and such. Also have a 6850.
Try using adaptive AA or supersampling AA through the CCC.

I have tried literally everything, from performance to quality, every combinations from all options to some...nothing...

I'm starting to think it's related with the drivers DX10 fonctionality coupled with the card??!

Since in DX9 I don't have that problem and since DX9 use another way to apply transparency...my guess is it's in DX10 and the 6850...

I'd like to know if those of you who own a 6850 or 6870 and Two Worlds 2 have that problem in this particular game?

I read on the game forums and i'm not the only one having this...it's a little annoying...

I know it's annoying but after doing more and more researches, it seems to be a problem with games and not the card...but I can't recall having this with my former HD 5770...

I'm insistent I know but if you stumble upon any infos please post it here.

Thank you

AMD doesn't enhance transparency with DirectX 10 and 11 -- only if it is added by the developer. nVidia does enhance transparency with DirectX 10 and 11.
