It's more quiet than my 4850 was, but that was a single slot cooling solution, I can only give you my subjective measure but I did crank the fan up to 100% just hear it and its not nearly as high pitched and whiny as the 4850 was.

never seems to go above 30% fan and in the mid 70's c temp wise, and my case doesnt have the best airflow

so overall from my old 4850 the 5850 is much faster, seems quieter and runs cooler in my system.
