karta konsumuje prawie 200 watów i wymaga podlaczenia dwóch kabli zasilajacych PCI Express.

i can read it ... i just can't translate it 😛

😀

from the Box, it looks like free Steam Games ... Orange Box? ... or less?

the 2900xt is not a "noisy" card ... not at anything you hear in a game ... around 30% or fan speed [unless you perversely set it to 100% ... it will blow-dry your hair with a "whoosh" that is amazing]

i'd expect the Pro to be less power and noise ... probably perfect for a 2nd GPU for my rig
[i hope]

Heat and noise are often a bit of a red herring - at least for me as I generally end up with aftermarket cooling that takes care of that bit. I tend to be very anal about noise.

maybe AMD is doing something with these tomorrow but i doubt it since it will most likely be their RD790 chipsets and new crossfire.

there are some places on the other side of the lake already selling these but nothing state side yet. oh well just one more week to go.

"on the side of the lake"!!! that reminds me of a quote:

"The canadians have bombed the baldwins"

First a crippled 3 core cpu, now early steppings of the r600? Way to go amd!

whats wrong with selling us a downclocked 2900xt for cheaper? i dont see a problem.

Nothing at all, but they're using an older stepping compared to the 2900xt.

Available in and in stock locally. I am quite impressed. $289 Canadian for the HIS 512mb model with a Couple of games. Am curious if stock lasts or if rumours of the the 2950 coming very soon are true.

Yeah I know, I'm so tempted on getting this card and than overclock it to the XT speed.
Best value ever!!!! 😎

I cant read it. But I do understand it somewhat - the two drawbacks they list about this card are the noise and power consumption. It's weird, I thought the 2900pro was not power hungry at all, but I guess Ati automatically gets slapped with that one no matter what...

If that's the HIS price in Canadian than whatever the Sapphire model costs might just be an impulse buy on my part.

2900 pro is just an underclocked 2900xt. you're thinking of the 2950 pro that will be released in Q1 08 on 55 nm.

Do not know if anyone has mentioned this before, but in the one 1600x1200 benchmark, stalker, the pro pulls in front of the 320, presumably because of the ram. I wonder if it is like this in other games.

based upon HIS website, the 2900 pro is the exact same card as the 2900xt but just with lower clocks. it makes sense in that case that it would have an advantage over 8800gts 320 as resolution increased.

i've decided that i'll be waiting for RV670XT instead of going with a 2900Pro. due to the fact that they will be in limited quantities and i'm not gonna pay a premium price for something that can be had cheaper. also since i upgraded to my new intel setup, i've gotten a little speed boost in games that i play enough to keep my X1900XT256 just a bit longer. so to all those who can get their hands on one at a good price, awesome buy for you guys 🙂.

if you're a canadian you can get one now. or european. basically, if you don't live in the US you can get one now. I think that we have to wait until the 30th.

yeah. this card kind of scares me though b/c it looks like it might not be around long enough to drop to better price or even impact 8800gts 320. I was kinda hoping it would prompt nvidia to push forward their nv92 release, too.

Looks like a great medium level card for those that cant afford the big boys!. Too bad its still as noisy as the XT series!. Now a know some of you will moan the noisy bit, however compared to the 8800 series, it is a 1/3 nosier again.
