100% setup episode that didn't answer many questions. The way to interpret it is how it advances the plot/characters to the next stage.

Dany needed to reunited with the Doth'raki. At some point, she is going to regain them, and effectively have the strongest cavalry in the world to add to whatever army she has left in Mereen (it's not much anymore is it? She has been losing Unsullied regularly, without replacement, and how many of the rest would follow her to Westeros?). Problem is, now that the ships were burned in the Mereen harbor, how will she cross the narrow sea?

I believe Brienne is going to take Sansa to the Riverlands and rally with the Blackfish / Tullys. Or something nearly like that. It would be extremely helpful if the Vale joined her as well - their army is untouched. Sansa is poised to rally the North once Ramsay gets his (which will be so satisfying). On that note, it is painfully obvious that Ramsay is going to try to kill Roose at some point (probably after he kills his Frey wife). Will he be killed by his own father, or take him out too?

Cersei and Jaime will go on a revenge tour in Kings Landing, but they have too many enemies to last much longer. The Tyrells, the Martells (those two don't like each other but now have common cause). Theyre going to briefly regain their mojo before the final downfall. I wonder if Jaime will end up killing Cersei? I could see it.
CleganeBowl? get hype!

The Wall - Castle Black cant really be defended from the south... something like 50 NW vs hundreds of Wildlings. Alliser is going to be dealt with (Davos?). If you believe Jon is going to be resurrected by Melissandre, then he will be released from his NW vow. Davos is going to become his key advisor, but Jon is going to have to deal with Melissandre's Azor Ahai prophecy. Now that we know she is old as dirt, I wonder how many times she has tried this? Is Jon the 7th Neo? She obviously has a much deeper history than was let on. If Jon becomes something like the King or Warden of the Wall, he can join with Sansa to unify the North.

I'm curious where the White Walker army is and when we will see them next. Probably in Bran's storyline. I've long expected the final battle to happen at the Wall, but maybe that's wrong.
A lot of people think that the Nights King has the horn and will use it to tear down the Wall which will be a spectacular, if horrifying sight.
I'm also looking forward to seeing Doth'raki and Dornish in the snow, which should be comical, especially for the former.

-- I've intentionally left out a few details that some folks would find spoiler-y. There are still a couple of things the show hasn't covered. Even those only lead to more speculation.

Also, I am worried about the writing as well, and the showrunner's threat that there are only 13 episodes left, spread across 2 seasons, after season 6.

All of it screams that they are writing from outlines instead of adapting source material. GRRM is planning to write 3 books that cover from season 6 on. Though he always needs an editor, there is obviously a lot more ground to cover, and I don't look forward to the show racing through what's left. Could make the ending really weak and anticlimactic. See how poorly they handled the pace of the Dorne storyline that they are really mucking up.

I think Sansa is definitely going to The Wall and not the Riverlands or The Vale. #1, Ramsay is already on the way to get them and #2 this was the battle the Lord of Light foretold of (she was simply wrong about which "king" wins against Winterfell). She's definitely going to use the Lord of Light's resurrection powers the same as we saw the Brotherhood Without Banners do when The Hound killed one of them. Sansa is the setup for the battle. The Vale might be a surprise savior in that battle but I don't think she's going there first.

Good points from TheAdvocate...to add to that, I think the setup of the humiliation and beat down of Arya is a setup for her rise to....something. I suspect she'll she'll play a major part in the storyline. It was made clear by Jaqen that until such time as she sheds the "face of Arya" she will never become a "no one". This feels like that moment.

If she becomes no one then doesn' that guarantee that Sansa will be the face of the Stark family in the future? Jon is going to be some sort of supernatural Lazarus. Bran is going to be some sort of wizard/mage. Arya going to be an assassin. Who does that leave?

Super excited for tonight's premiere! I wasn't sure if I should add "no book spoilers" to the title since the show is now ahead of the books. Anyways, I hope we find out the true outcome of Jon Snow's fate in ep.1 and that they don't drag it out.

For those that may have missed it, here's the latest trailer

I was just talking about him with someone at work. When exactly is the last time we've seen him? I think it was last when Osha/Rickon split from Hodor/Bran.. I'm thinking it was the end of S3, is that right? Or was it S4?

Star world Premiere HD :hmm:

Just wondering how long will they drag this, J.R.R. I mean George Martin doesn't seem to be in any rush to complete the last two books :sneaky:

there's 2 books?
lol.. if the endings the same in both the book and tv series (but how they get there is diff) then not as many people will be buying the last book since the TV will have wrapped by waaaaaaaaaaay before the year 2030

When the Maester was dying he talked in private to Osha. I think it is fair to say he asked her to take them someplace safe. The speculation is that Osha and Rickon went to Skagos, mostly due to a possibility of Stark ties there. No one can say anything for certain though. What we do know is that Rickon is wild and Shaggydog reflects that. He would fit in with the wildlings or on a wild isle like Skagos.

Seems like the power that amulet she has to keep her young will go to help in Jon's resurrection. Also that Davos associated Jon and the witch means he's having similar thoughts about a resurrection.

Bran. It leaves Bran.

He is the heir to the north, wizard or not. People only think Sansa is because they think Bran is ded. Once it comes out he's alive, the north should rally behind him. Sansa already knows he survived Theon. Then there's Rickon.

IIRC, the only thing Davos witnessed the witch doing was giving birth to a vagina shadow assassin. I didn't see him connecting Jon and the Witch (beyond the other bit with the king's blood and leeches and whatever nonsense with that Gendry fellow rowing around in the boat), so much as his thinking that the witch could maybe help them fight the Nightwatch with her vagina assassin powers?

I do think Jon Snow will be back as some sort of reborn flesh thing from the firecrotch lady. We already have a glimpse in the previews of FrankenMountain tossing around the religious wackadoos, so why not Jon Snow?

That's what I've been thinking. It gets better because technically he "died" and would be released from service to the Night's Watch, so he can go back and be king of the north.

I dont understand this. Why have the Lannisters NOT unleashed the army on the religious nuts? seriously, the nuts have the queen in a cell and humiliated the queen mother.

Holy crap was that disappointing. No resolution on Jon. Fine, saw that coming from a mile away. Not one iota of advancement on Arya. Not one iota of advancement on Daenerys, still a captive, still no dragons. Minor move with Sansa getting away and linking up with Brienne. Nice revolt in Dorne, but that was like 4 minutes. Naked hag Mellisandre got more screen time than that. No advancement on at all on everyone versus the Sparrows, no advancement on Sons of the Harpys.

All those main plots plus Sam on the road to Maester, the probable return of Sandor, Bran in the north and only 10 hours of show to cram all that in. It felt like they completely pissed away a 10th of their season while accomplishing almost nothing. Doesn't it feel like that was an 8 minute episode padded out to an hour? That was the kind of thing Robert Jordan would have done when he ran out of ideas and tried to get 1 chapters worth of action spread over an entire book.
