How's that our problem? HBO chose it, they can live with it.
"Live with it"
...
for a whole three months. :D

HBO didn't choose to leave the exclusivity duration from the OP. HBO didn't choose to suppress anyone trying to share that information with those who would want to know and are upset. They are only upset due to assumptions that you would seemingly want to perpetuate. Why did you even respond to me in the first place?! *I* was asking the OP to add a clarification after seeing multiple people assume this is long-term. It serve's the OP's desire to inform people about the availability of the service.

Again, who cares? You're butt hurt because of someone else's butt hurt. Move on.
I am "butthurt" because I want them to know that the service they want is coming in three months? OK. Obviously THEY care. Now: Butt out.

You should just link the FAQ's like I did, problem solved. instead, you do this.

Who cares if HBO loses customers over it? Obviously, you.

Genius! Oh. Wait. No. I can't add a link to the OP. Who knew?

It's obvious that the people making the assumption and replying as they do aren't reading any further than where they discover that it's Apple-exclusive. It doesn't do any more good for me to link to the FAQ repeatedly than it does for me to discuss it over and over and over every time another makes that assumption and posts about it. I suggested something more effective that the OP could do to help. You butted in and are STILL being belligerent. WTF, man?!

If people go on being rampantly misinformed it hurts more than just HBO Now, it hurts the future of the a la carte TV service we all want. You'd better believe that other networks are taking notes and watching closely. People want to cut the cord. This is a huge step toward what we want and a three month delay for a subset of the market does not change that.

If you still don't understand, then butt out. I wasn't talking to you in the first place. I'm asking the OP to add a note: "Currently Apple-only. Coming to other platforms in 3 months." It will save a lot of trouble and avoid a lot of misunderstanding.

Belligerent? I don't think you know what that means. I have not exhibited hostility. Although, you have been combative.

I very much understand what you're saying. I don't agree that this will hurt a la carte TV we all want. I think if HBO's decision to go Apple exclusive for mobile apps during the first 3 months hurts them, then oh well.

Other networks are taking notes, maybe they won't release their products as Apple exclusive at all if consumers vote with their wallet. Or maybe, just maybe, it won't matter in the least, and the networks that follow up will do the same.

Rampantly misinformed, lol....where do you think you are? this is consumer nation, FAQ's and fine print be damned.

Besides, people who would be affected by this are already pirating the shows. Really not much HBO can do about it. On that topic, if they don't get the projected subscriptions , then maybe the price will come down as well.

You still aren't getting it:
It's not the Apple exclusivity itself. It's the misunderstanding that it will remain Apple exclusive. You're behaving like you want to deliberately twist that knife rather than inform those who would want to know (VERY clear by the disappointment they expressed). They are going to inadvertently vote with their wallets by not buying a service they want when it eventually (soon!) becomes available because they think they already discovered that it's Apple-exclusive.

Saying that we shouldn't make that clear because they chose to be Apple exclusive for the first three months is counter-intuitive. We aren't trying to trick them into pulling the wrong lever or ignore their dangling chad. Did HBO write the OP? No? So why is it their fault?

You've made it clear. You've definitely put the effort in to inform everyone. Maybe just start your own thread.

lol, now I'm behaving like something. Ok big dog.

did HBO right the OP? I dunno, do they have an account here?

did HBO choose to go Apple exclusive for the release? does HBO know the attention span and reading comprehension of the average consumer? wait, maybe that's why they went to Apple like that.

So, the solution is to make a duplicate thread rather than to reply? I can't even ask that it be added to the OP? Really?

For you, yes. Make an information thread for a topic you so clearly care dearly about.

HAH! I proposed a simple one-post solution that did not involve you and yet you wanted to ridicule me for it and turned it into this many back-and-forth posts. Somehow, that means *I* am the one who cares "so dearly" about it?! It would have been a one post suggestion that I never even expected a reply to!

You shouldn't have even said anything if you care so much about keeping it out of this thread.

Way to be, CZroe. You really showed me. Of course, that doesn't change that fact that the service is Apple exclusive. Go ahead and pretend like you don't care, but the posting history is there.
Many people were "unhappy" because they were misinformed and you had a problem with my suggestion that would inform them. Good job. The only way you could justify that position was by being misinformed yourself.

That's why I laid it out for you. You dug in your heels. Since you claim to be fully informed, now it's clear that you really do just want to twist the knife. Good job. Gold star. Great work.

Yup, thanks, I didn't read the FAQ's or anything. You really got this on lock down.

Clearly. Good job. Gold star. Great work. Nice effort.

Thanks. Really means so much coming from you. You really care about this stuff, and it shows. Who's better than you?

Maybe, just maybe, you'll actually start posting some more information about HBO Now.

Maybe.

Or leave a link for others to click on. Maybe.

Still too expensive...if it was $5/month or even $10/month I'd get it. But their current price isn't really any cheaper than I can get from the cable co.

Agreed. On paper it doesn't seem like much at first, but when you add up your netflix, hulu, this, slingtv, etc, it gets expensive.

I have OTA and netflix only. This HBO service is worth about $4.99 a month to me. That's my price point where I feel that it would benefit me. In addition, since I can only currently watch it on one TV in my house that has the apple tv on it, it really limits the exposure I have to the service for the first 3 months. AFter that, I have a smart sony blu ray player, but doubt it will get an app for this. Also have a media center tv and hope they make a plugin for kodi for it. I hate having to use the keyboard to get out of kodi, then open a browser and click a favorite to go to a site. Messes the experience up and my wife and kids then have to remember yet another step to do.

EDIT: Also, stfu you two already. You sound like my kids, always having to get the last word in.

Yep, pay more for a reliable vpn so you can now pay for this service on top of it.

LAME

Can't argue with that. It seemed our canadian poster wanted the service, and vpn would help accomplish it.

I've given the information repeatedly. Are you disputing it or something? Why do I need to link it?

I'll do it again:
HBO Now is only exclusive to Apple for the first three months.

It's $1 less than what my cableco charges. Gives you *everything* HBO has, on-demand. If you have the hardware you need to access it, I see no reason to pay $16 when I can get it for $15.

Could pretty much do that before with the HBO app. Just had to authenticate it with my cable company account.
