HBO NOW available NOW!

Am I missing something?

I have to have an appleTV to get this on my big screen easily?

I've got a HTPC and a Roku setup with my living room. I don't think I can use HBO Now at this point. I was really expecting a simple sign up and then Roku access as well as web based access to HBO Now from the popular web browsers.

Pretty disappointed if HBO Now only really works on the AppleTV and not a FireTV or Roku or the other media streamers.

Well I guess my current work around will be to move my AppleTV from the other TV to my MainTV or cast from my iPhone to a Google Chromecast ($40) that I plug into my mainTV.

Both more trouble than I was hoping for if I pick up a an additional $15 monthly. The AppleTV is pretty good, but the Roku is so much better for my watching habits.

For now I'll stick to using a relatives HBO Go access, but this still is a PITA due this relative's cable provider not being kosher with for HBO Go on Roku, it does however work on AppleTV..... I don't know wtf these providers are thinking, KISS ffs.

One small note of caution, U-verse had a free HBO/Cinemax "event" over the holiday month witch they conveniently turned into a "subscription" adding $26/month to my bill, I didn't order the free pre-view and I had to call and tell them to refund the $$ I was charged.

After you sign up on an apple device you can watch it on a browser but I think you'll have another 3 month wait if you want it on other devices (Roku?)

Everyone watch:

[edit]
- Citizenfour
(No matter what you think of Edward Snowden, you should watch this)
[/edit]

- The Jinx
(6-part documentary with OMGWTF ending)

- Going Clear
(Scientology documentary)

- Edge of Tomorrow

Still using HBO GO with cable, and have liked it since it was available.

Nice to see them branching out, have MAX GO also, but do not use it as much.

I still recommend Generation Kill to anyone having access to the HBO backlog also.

One of my favorite series I watch now and again.

Will I be able to buy pay per view with HBO now? I'm trying to get the Pacman vs Mayweather fight.

Citizen Four was dumb and told me nothing that I already know about what was going on. Don't waste your time and just read the wiki page on Edward Snowden. Citizen Four was BOOORING.

If you want to watch a really good Documentary, watch "The Men Who Built America". It's on Netflix and the documentary is six episodes long. It also won an Emmy, it's gooood!

Wait, you have to sign up through your iPhone? Lawl.

Huge cash grab for Apple, but no problem for me since I have an iPhone :awe:

I'm not really that interested in HBO though.

I know I'll forget to cancel and be stuck with a subscription I don't want.

Need an apple device to use it?

Guess I'll just borrow GOT from my buddy then. No money for you HBO, hope it was worth it.

Difference from HBO Go is..?

You have to have a subscription to HBO via your TV provider to use HBO Go. This allows you to view HBO programming without any other TV service. So all of those people only using OTA TV w/ Hulu and/or Netflix now have a way to watch HBO without getting a crazy cable package.
