Game of Thrones is a brilliant series...my favourite. Better than WoT or LoTR imo

Problem is it is NOT COMPLETE

problem with it having a large budget is that it will get "Romed" great show, but only lasted 2 seasons because the ratings weren't enough to justify its budget.

Worse than being Romed would be being Deadwooded. At least Rome got some notice they were getting canceled and were able to write in something of a conclusion to the story. Deadwood was canceled after season 3's production completed. Deadwood will forever be the best show never completed to ever air on TV. I guess that the odds of that are more likely with Game Of Thrones though since the book series hasn't been completed and they plan on doing on book per season...

Only Robert Jordan was a terrible writer, and George R. R. Martin is one of the best.

Not true, Jordan was pretty decent for a while. The first three books in the WoT were good. Not as good as GRRM, but still good. And then he decided he had to stretch about 1 pages worth of ideas over 7 more books and he completely lost it.

Martin has already said that they're going to up the age of Danerys for the TV show. The incest will be there because it is integral to the story.

I think they're going to up the age of Joffrey and Sansa too. They'll both be 18 so that the things that happen to them will be less disturbing.

Thats a good thing, IMO, so long as the story concepts and plot remain intact.

I know how this shit ends, give us a new book you fat old bastard.

We'll get the new book soon. I'm guessing that it will be out in time to coincide with the series premiere and it's possible that it's done and Martin is sitting on it so that the timing works out. But I also have a hunch that the next book will be the last one we see from Martin himself. He's either going to die or realize that he can't finish the series alone, so he'll either bring in a co-writer or use a ghost.

Uh... talking about "statutory rape" in a story set in a middle ages type environment is idiotic. "Age of consent" is a 20th century conception that only came about when women gained some measure of equality. Females becoming sexually active <18 with older (sometimes MUCH older) men has been the norm for most of human history. Puberty was the normal time to marry a girl off in most pre-modern societies.

Just read that principal filming has been completed. Now they will do all the post-production CGI stuff, so we're getting close.
