Dare I ask, what is this "Deadwood"?

Here is the opening scene of the series. Really only shows two characters, but it will give you the rhythm of the show.
They go to Deadwood to open a hardware store. Then a lot of stuff happens.

It was a great show that was cut short by HBO because it cost a lot to make. The ending is frustrating, but it's still a definite watch.

i tried watching deadwood ... twice. couldn't make it more than like 5-6 episodes in. it was ssssssoooooo boring.

beautiful being.

Just watched that intro...not sure what to say yet, but I'm curious. I think I've been awake to long, about 20 hours now.

10+ years down the road is too long for "closure", at this point it would be necro. Let the series rest in peace, the Entourage movie should be all the evidence you need that simply gathering together the old gang will not automatically recapture the old magic.

Movie for HBO, riiight?

Nobody will pay to see this in the theaters...case in point: Entourage or Sex & the City.

Sex & the City did quite well in theaters.

I am not sure a Deadwood movie is going to be a blockbuster for them. I will love it though.

You're an idiot then 🙂
And you don't get to use "beautiful being" if you haven't watch it all!!!

He was saying he sucks cock, and based on his inability to finish Deadwood I would have to agree.

And having a Deadwood movie makes sense since they dont really need to release this theatrically. It can be on HBO and later compliment their streaming portfolio. I wish they would do it for Carnivale and Rome as well, although Rome kinda doesnt need it.

No thanks, Deadwood got old pretty quickly and was rightfully cancelled, think I watched a season and a half before giving up on it. Wanted to stop sooner, but I was hoping for anything interesting to happen, as I wanted a good western series. Enjoyed Keith Carradine though, always like him in roles like that.

I fucking loved this show and am cautiously optimistic for the movie.

I loved that the characters (some) were based on real people, there were some historical flaws, but it's not a documentary, cocksuckers.

I wouldn't be particularly interested in a movie. A revival of the TV series would be great, though. I see no reason that it couldn't either pick up where it left or jump ahead X years, depending on the characters that return.

With Justified now finished, I'd be a little surprised to see Timothy Olyphant return to do Deadwood. He probably has any number of offers to star in either a new series or to begin doing more movies.

According to IMDB, he has three films coming out in 2016, so it looks like he's fairly busy. If any of those are hits and he has a major role, we can probably write him off for Deadwood.

The series was nearly wrapped up when they ended it, there were about 2 seasons left tops. Gotta remember this was all based on the real story of the town and the town kind of wound down pretty quickly. It basically burned to the ground about 3 years after the start of the show.

How long did M*A*S*H run? The stories told in Deadwood are only very loosely based on a few characters of the day. The rest is fiction. It's the characters that made the show.
